Six of the Best Tenerife Romantic Hotels for Valentine’s Day

Wed, February 11th, 2015 - By Andrea Montgomery

I know it’s going to cost you an arm and a leg but special experiences leave lasting memories that are priceless. So if you plan on whisking your beloved somewhere extra special in order to pop the question this Valentine’s Day or it’s a special anniversary year, here are my suggestions for one Tenerife night to remember.

Hotel San Roque, Garachico

Hotel San Roque. It doesn’t have a spa, an aromatherapy ambience or an infinity pool overlooking the ocean but to my mind, the Hotel San Roque is the perfect Valentine getaway. Located in a quiet side street in the lovely village of Garachico, the combination of style and tradition at this hotel are unbeatable. Book one of the suites for a Jacuzzi in the bedroom, or try for the splendid seclusion and romance of El Torre (the Tower) for a Romeo and Juliet experience, but with a happier ending, obviously.

Iberostar Gran Hotel El Mirador

Iberostar El Mirador. The exterior design gives away its inner secrets, its sandstone turrets and covered walkways providing a fairytale setting for its romantic ambience. An adults-only hotel at the posh end of Costa Adeje, El Mirador‘s bedrooms have four poster beds and soft white drapes; beautiful Moroccan lamps and a huge en suite with a proper soak tub and fragrant toiletries. You may not want to leave your room but it’s worth it for the breakfast.

Ritz Carlton Abama

Ritz Carlton Abama. As a popular family hotel, you won’t find the same tranquillity that you get in an adults-only environment but the Abama‘s headland position with its unparalleled views of sunset over La Gomera are more than adequate compensation. It’s worth paying extra for room with a sea view so you can enjoy the heavenly show from your very private balcony. The cherry on this opulent cake is dinner in either of its two, Michelin starred restaurants.

Gran Hotel Palacio de Isora

Gran Hotel Palacio de Isora. I’m afraid there’s nothing else for it but to bite the credit card bullet and go for a room in Red Level at the Palacio. Check in early enough to enjoy the sunny position of the west coast at the adults-only, Red Level swimming pool, followed by happy hour at the free bar. With your own dedicated butler to prepare an aromatherapy Jacuzzi on your balcony and a room that oozes seductive style and includes a Nespresso machine, who needs George Clooney?

Teide Parador

Teide Parador. I’m not going to pretend that the Parador can hold a candle to any of the other hotels I’m recommending in terms of its luxury and style. But what it lacks in amenities, it more than makes up for in location. You simply cannot find anywhere in Europe to equal the extraordinary landscape of Teide National Park, particularly after dark when the starry skies and the moonlight belong just to you. Book the best room you can afford.

Las Villas, Gran Hotel Bahia Del Duque

Gran Hotel Bahía Del Duque. Just for those of you who think my choices so far are a tad on the cheap side…the fabulous Bahía Del Duque is offering a Valentine’s weekend  package staying in one of its opulent Las Villas, for the tidy sum of €6,426 for three nights. The package includes a private yacht excursion, his and her spa treatments and dinner at their gourmet restaurant, drinks not included, naturally.

If only the depth of our love (26 years happily married) were matched by the depth of our bank account any of these would sound perfect 🙂
