Whether you like loitering on the tight mountain roads of Anaga, skirting the scenic coast of Garachico, or yearn for the promised 2015 opening of the Adeje to Icod ring road, the Boulevard Motor Show is for you.

Santa Cruz welcomes back the annual feast of cars, classic and new, plus useful accessories, and not a scratch or dent in sight. From 2nd to 5th October the Recinto Ferial at the southern entrance to the Tenerife capital will be gleaming with freshly buffed body work and names from the golden era of motoring. The 8,000 metre square display hall will be split into classic models like the Austin Healey 3000 Mark 3, modern speed stars like Porsche, and novelties like kit cars, jeeps, and even a few motor cycles.

You’re not here to buy, just to run your eye over the sleek designs, turn back your memory’s clock to your first parking challenge, and maybe even remember romantic wind swept drives. The owners of many of these cherished motors wouldn’t part with them for the full box set history of Top Gear but there are plenty of driving related products and aids among the 48 stands. If you want the latest maps, cleaning products, in car luxuries or some nice seat covers, this could be the just the place to pull in.

If not all your family or group are mechanically inspired, the Recinto Ferial is in easy reach of the big department stores, the Auditorium and museums, and the relaxing Plaza de España. Thought has been given to those parking up moments inside the hall, there is a large bar and café, a family play zone, and chill out areas inside or out on the terrace.

Even when the Tenerife roads were quite a bit more basic, cars were vital to link remote communities and to drive commerce. The majority of the vehicles on show are lovingly looked after by the many enthusiast clubs around the island. At the show you can indulge your daydreams of owning the fast, the furious, and the fantastic, go on fill your camera up. Naturally there is plenty of free parking around the Recinto Ferial and if the rush overloads them, the cheapest capital car park is nearby under the Titsa bus station.

Boulevard Motor Show, Recinto Ferial, Avenida de la Constitucion, Santa Cruz; 2 to 5 October, 11 am to 9 pm; €4 entrance at the door.
