Michael Bolton Concert in Tenerife

Wed, March 30th, 2011 - By Jack Montgomery

There are live concerts in Tenerife all year round. On any day of any month you can be sure there will be someone famous playing the Tenerife Auditorium in Santa Cruz or at the lovely Teatro Leal in La Laguna or even in the cosy Castillo San Felipe at Puerto de la Cruz. Someone famous to Spanish ears that is…but completely unknown to the millions of British visitors who fly into Tenerife every year.

For that reason ex-pats and visitors wait with bated breath each year for the announcement procaliming which big international name will be singing at the summer concert at the Sun Live festival at Golf Costa Adeje.

The last few years have seen Elton John, Rod Stewart and Simply Red take to the greens of the golf course of one of  south Tenerife’s most prestigious holiday resorts, Costa Adeje, attracting audiences of around 15,000 sun kissed visitors, ex-pats and Canarios. The irony is that you could see Rod any night of the week down in Parque de la Paz in Playa de las Américas…but that’s not quite the same as seeing the real thing.

Last week the identity of the latest in the line of stars to perform at Golf Costa Adeje was announced. And, sticking to a pattern of seemingly bringing stars who were all at a peak in the mid eighties, the next act to take to the Golf Costa Adeje stage will be Michael Bolton; the American soft rock ballad singer who came to fame in the mid eighties with a string of hits of classic song cover versions such as Sitting on the Dock of the Bay and Georgia on My Mind.

The concert will take place on Friday 8th July from 8pm to 10pm but you can’t claim your spot on the sunny greens yet as ticket prices are still to be announced. We’ll update this post when we have more information.

  1. Lynn says:

Where can you buy tickets for the concert. Do you know how much they are?

  2. Lynn says:

I can’t believe that they want anyone to go and see it. Why so late do you think? Is he really coming?

    • Andy says:

It’s an interesting question, Lynn! The concert is still being advertised and it features on Michael’s own website and Facebook pages too so presumably, yes, he’s still coming. But I have no idea what the delay with tickets is all about, the official website is still ominously silent.
