Look Up To La Pepa Food Market

Think of a market and it tends to conjure up an image of frantic shopping outdoors in cramped spaces with nowhere to relax. There’s a new more gentle approach at La Pepa Food Market up on the roof of Pasarela Oasis in Los Cristianos.

La Pepa Food Market, Los Cristianos

Because it’s built into the side of a hill there are several entrances at different levels and a direct lift up from the ground floor of the Paserela Oasis commercial centre allowing easy access for all including families with children in buggies. The market was completed in a short space of time so I expected small prefab units with minimal protection, how wrong I was. There are 21 units inside under a sturdy roof, all with good wide access paths, and another three kiosks outside by the very large communal terrace that serves all the take away food and drink outlets. The curled beam roof of the centre means there is a choice of covered seating or open air in the Tenerife sunshine.

Choice and variety are the keywords in this shopping delight, there’s flowers, fresh fruit and vegetables, bread, gourmet meat, ice cream, and fish. The flavours are international including sushi, a German butchers, American burgers and fast food, and Tex Mex.

The terrace is a wonderful chill out zone with mainly wooded beer garden type seating but there are also smaller more intimate coffee bar type tables along the outer ridge of the terrace allowing lovely views out across Los Cristianos, to the ferry port, and beyond to the sea. If you’re a people watcher get comfortable and watch the streets below bustle.

There’s no need to rush your visit, two large bars face the terrace area with a wide choice of beer, wines, and soft drinks for drivers and the children. Toilets are close to hand and there is even a hairdressers a few yards from the seating.

Children will feel on top of the world with the Kids Land store and a play park with climbing frames, slides, and inflatables, perfect for the 4 to 12 year olds. Pepa Food Market is a nice place meet and socialize with friends, everything is flexible including opening times, the core time is 10 am to 10 pm but the bakers and coffee bars open a little earlier and the bars and cooked food outlets go with the flow when it is still busy.

As a bright, modern compliment to the shopping centers of Arona and Costa Adeje this has plenty of scope to grow and add other attractions and special promotions, move on up soon.
