Six of the Best Beach Based Hotels on Tenerife

Sometimes, all you want to do is wake up every morning to sunshine, slap on the factor 20 and spend the day with sand between your toes. If what you really need right now is just to step from breakfast to beach, here are six Tenerife hotels that fit the bill.

Mare Nostrum Resort
Situated right in the heart of Playa de Las Américas, the Mare Nostrum Resort is actually five luxury hotels in one with enough facilities to keep even the most hyper of hyperactive families busy for the entire holiday. Walk out the beach side entrance and you’ll find yourself facing the beautiful Playa El Camisón. A tranquil bay of fine grains set with thatched umbrellas and the coolest of beach bars, this is the perfect coming together of great hotel and great beach.

Playa Sur Hotel
Set so close to Playa Machado that you can actually feel the sand beneath your feet in reception, this is the ultimate beach lover’s dream Tenerife location. Step outside and you’re onto the endless golden shore beset with the rainbow sails of windsurfers and kite boarders before you’ve finished swallowing your breakfast coffee. Subject to El Médano‘s trademark windy conditions, the Hotel Playa Sur reflects its popularity with surfers by maintaining a casual, relaxed atmosphere where tidy hair is a distant dream.

Playa La Arena Hotel
The Be Live Playa de la Arena Hotel is a mere pedestrian crossing stride away from Playa de la Arena‘s lovely little beach. The sandy bay is a day long sun trap with a great tapas bar right on the sand; a dither-inducing choice of shops and restaurants lining the promenade and free WiFi. In a resort that likes its entertainment low key and a hotel that provides sumptuous surroundings and family friendly facilities, this a beach and family hotel marriage made in heaven.

Bahia del Duque
Stepping so far upmarket that we’re in danger of thinking we’ve left Tenerife altogether, the fabulous Gran Bahia Del Duque Hotel in Costa Adeje takes the beach biscuit when it comes to unadulterated luxury and pampering. Wander out from the landscaped gardens where every leaf has been trimmed to perfection and your toes will squeal with delight as they encounter the immaculately groomed sand of Playa Del Duque. Your wallet may squeal too, but for a different reason.

Hotel El Médano
We’re back in the beach paradise of El Médano for our fifth choice but this time we’re staying in the heart of the little resort where the Medano Hotel meets the beach of the same name and they make the perfect couple. The hotel’s terrace juts out over the waves while its entrance runs alongside the popular town beach and plaza. It’s the destination of choice for anyone who likes their beach and hotel to be as one.

Hotel Jardines de Nivaria
If you’ve stayed in any of Adrian Hotel’s small but select stable you’ll know that everything’s going to be top notch and the Jardines de Nivaria Hotel is no exception. Add gorgeous Art Deco style in midnight blue and gold to the tropical paradise of its Fañabe grounds, and then step outside the pool area straight onto Playa Fañabe beach and you’ve got the consummate combo of sand and style.
